Dan Tashlin

... was born at the end of the WWII and grew up in Milford, Connecticut; a sleepy New England town nestled on the Long Island Sound. As he grew up his boating adventures in Milford Harbor heightened his sense of the world around him. The color and texture of nature were instilled in Dan at an early age. The beach he played on, the fishermen guiding the oyster boats daily in and out of the harbor, sea-worn shingled cottages always saluting the sun as it rose into the morning sky and the apple orchard behind his house became his artistic playground.

Dan began as an artist at twelve when he received an unforgettable gift. It was a "paint-by-numbers" set at Christmas time. That day he found out how much he enjoyed painting and at the same time he discovered that he wanted more than the rigid number-painting with pasty looking colors. Thus his career as an artist began. Ever since that time Dan has been oil painting with a passion that has remained consistent for the past fifty-three years; half his life in Connecticut and half in Florida. His oil paintings still hold the flavor of New England in them.

After Dan's completed his education in his hometown he pursued his thirst for art and painting by attending the Artist's School in Westport, Connecticut, studying commercial art, illustration and design.

During his early adult years oil paintings were lovingly created rather than for means of income. His creations were bestowed as gifts to loved ones and special friends. A business career was also growing for him at a large corporation as the lead creative and graphic designer for their marketing division.

At the age of about thirty Dan began to sell his paintings because of the numerous requests for commissioned paintings he received and encouragement from his friends. By now he created a treasured collection of Cape Cod paintings that he felt were worthy to exhibit. This was Dan's time of 'coming out' as an artist. Life was now an exciting journey in the art world for this passionate artist.
