Artistic talent sprang early from Native Floridian Kathy Bowden's fingertips. She started oil painting at the tender age of eight under the tutelage of retired illustrator Graham Ingles, a.k.a. "Ghastly" of EC Comics. Her artistic journey has continued throughout her adult life as she married, raised a family, and traveled several continents.
Moving to the United Kingdom with her Englishman husband, Kathy began to accept commissions and develop a wide body of work. Her paintings are in the permanent collections of aviation and military museums and have been published as greeting cards.
Residing in Ghana, West Africa influenced both her subject matter and her materials of choice. Kathy worked on mahogany panels and focused on the incredible wildlife that surrounded her. Additional moves back to the UK and the States afforded Kathy the opportunity to exhibit in galleries, teach painting, continue her commission work, and also have her work published in a book on Louisiana homes entitled "If Walls Could Talk."
Returning to her Florida roots, Kathy now resides in Lake County and continues to paint portraits of people, pets, vintage vehicles, boats, aircraft, wildlife, homes, and ancestral portraits.
