Every third Saturday of the month the 16 studio artists at Gallery on First welcome art lovers to their Open Studio event from 6-9pm. Enjoy complimentary refreshments and stroll the gallery halls to meet the artists and get a glimpse of their latest work.
This event is located in charming Historic Downtown Sanford where brick lined streets are lit by string lights and house dozens of independently owned shops and restaurants.
6th Annual Reader's Choice award Gala Ceremony
The 6th Annual Reader's Choice Award - Gala Ceremony took place Tuesday, August 30, 2022. The Ritz Theatre had a full house and over 60 awards were given out. Congratulations to Jeanine Taylor who won Best Art Gallery for "Jeanine Taylor Folk Art!"
Mayor Art Woodruff proclaimed August 30th, 2022, as the BEST OF SANFORD DAY.
Other attendees were Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings.
2 Best of Sanford awards were given: 2022 Lifetime Achievement Award to the Pearlie Mae Ford Community Service Club and to the memory and legacy of Mrs. Pearlie Mae Ford. The other award was given to Orlando Sanford International Airport.
Both awards receive the "Sandie" gold statue created by Mark R. Seppala who is an artist at Gallery on First in Sanford.
