Saturday, April 16 6 PM – 9 PM . Every third Saturday of the month the 16 studio artists in residents at Gallery on First welcome art lovers to their Open Studio event from 6 PM – 9 PM. Enjoy complimentary refreshments and stroll the gallery halls to meet the artists and get a glimpse of their latest work. This event is located in charming Historic Downtown Sanford where brick lined streets are lit by string lights and house dozens of independently owned shops and restaurants.

“Charles Reid with Corn Cob Pipe" Painting by Cindy Sturla "Capturing The Light" Featured artists this month are Stewart Jones & Cindy Sturla. Some consider them to be the anchors of the gallery artists. Cindy and Stewart have shared a studio in the gallery for 14 of the 15 years the gallery has been open to the public.

See how these artists included “Capturing the Light” into their paintings. It could be the sunset of a nearby alley or light bouncing off the face of a painted portrait. The goal of the artist is to capture the light of the subject and present it on a 2-dimensional surface. You can visit with Cindy & Stewart during our Open Studio SATURDAY, APRIL 16 from 6 PM – 9 PM.
